Southwest Shakespeare Co. is proud to offer a host of eductational opportunities to delight both teachers and students in Arizona. Here's just a sampling of what's available:

Workshops in Your Classroom Theatre Games, Shakespearean Scene Study, Stage Combat, Costumes, Shakespearean Theatre--all these activities can be done right in your own classroom.

Previews and Orientations
Preparation for our Student Performances, teachers and other educators are invited to attend special show previews and orientations.

Post-Show Discussions & Tours
Held at the Mesa Arts Center, students can hear discussions from professional Shakespearean actors and get a backstage tour of the magnificent arts facilities.

Performances for Students

SSC has introduced more than 90,000 Arizona students to live, classical theatre.

Only $7 or $8 per student, depending on performance
  • Special weekday time: 10:00 A.M.
  • Some evening & weekend matinees available, too
  • Teacher Guides provided (comprehensive & meeting Arizona State Standards)
  • Reserved seating
  • Full-length productions (same shows season subscribers see)
  • Students attend from as far away as Yuma, Snowflake, Lake Havasu City, as well as all parts of the Valley

As a courtesy to both artists and patrons, any disruptive person or persons will be asked to leave.  We recommend children under the age of 5 not attend our adult performances.

We have Teacher Guides for MACBETH, THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, THE TEMPEST, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, HAMLET, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, ROMEO AND JULIET, and CYRANO DE BERGERAC. These guides can be e-mailed to you in a PDF format.
