Summer Is Here

I just saw the final showing of "Richard II" in Phoenix (at Space 55), co-produced by Poor Players Company and Shakespeare Sedona, and it was a tremendous evening of theatre. Southwest Shakespeare appreciates the venture by Shakespeare Sedona and Poor Players that introduces theatre audiences to this wonderful epic story that crosses generations. Southwest Shakespeare will one day do our own production of "The Wars of The Roses". Why? Because, like Mount Everest, it is there---and to expose our audience to a fantastic side of Shakespeare of which we present too little. Directed by our Artistic Associate Richard Baird and featuring many of our company members, the show is riveting from start to finish. Degree of difficulty? A Ten. The Histories make up a good deal of Shakespeare's writing and to be a mature Shakespeare Company one must do them and do them well. This production is not just a taste of the cycle of plays known as "The Wars of The Roses"--- it is EPISODE ONE. If you want to get on board the great saga, you MUST see this show to understand all that comes after (all the "Henry's" and "Richard III"). "Richard II" will play again in Sedona so if you missed it in Phoenix check out the Shakespeare Sedona website at www.shakespearesedona.com for dates and times. Also playing are "Taming of The Shrew" and "The Merry Wives of Windsor". Summer is here, and, again,WHAT A GREAT TIME TO SUBSCRIBE TO SOUTHWEST SHAKESPEARE COMPANY!
