A Season Ends And A New One Begins
Dear Friends,
Our 2007-8 Season has come to an end and our 2008-9 Season is about to begin! It is hard to believe I am entering my ninth season with Southwest Shakespeare Company and our fourth since moving into the Mesa Arts Center. For those of you who joined us at Tempe Marketplace for our "Shakespeare Marathon" (all the works of William Shakespeare read back-to-back for over 100 hours straight) you know what a remarkable experience it was. At one point I couldn't help but remark "this guy wrote a lot of words!" (I think it was about 3 in the morning after about 3 days). Unofficially I have been told we broke the previous record, however we need to await the final official decision on it. In any case, for Southwest Shakespeare Company and the over 100 actors and readers who took part, it was an unforgettable experience. We are very grateful to all who worked on the event and for Tempe Marketplace who hosted it.Right now I am very excited about next year's season. We just finished conducting our first-ever auditions in New York City and are completing much of the season casting as you read this. If you have not renewed your subcription at this point I would hope you do soon as this promises to be one of our most exciting seasons ever. We have many new faces from around the country joining our productions, as well as the return of some of our audience's favorites, so hurry and don't miss out! If you are not yet a subscriber, now is the time to consider it. There are so many advantages in becoming one---many, many advantages---and we are adding to those as we speak, not the least of which is you get your choice of the best seats. That's all for now. I am getting ready to board my flight out of New York and back home toPhoenix.See you at the theatre!
