Southwest Shakespeare Company Audition Signup

Auditions for MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR (Directed by Keath Hall) and MOBY DICK (Directed by Lee Cooley) will be held on November 8, 2025 at the Mesa Arts Center Second Floor Acting Studio. Callbacks will be held on November 23, 2025. 


Please prepare a 1-minute classical monologue. Shakespeare a plus but not required. It is more important that you know it well and can take adjustments. 

 

Rehearsals for MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR start JAN 5, 2026, and the production performs in the Virginia Piper Theatre at the Mesa Arts Center FEB 7-22, 2026, with weekday student matinees on February 10, 12, 17, and 20th, 2025 at 10am. 

 

Seeking Actors of diverse age, gender & ethnicity: 

Sir John Falstaff:  Old drunken knight

Master Ford: Jealous Husband

Simple: Silly servant of Slender
Master Page:  Husband to Mistress Page, Father of Anne Page
Doctor Caius/Nym: Caius is a suitor to Anne Page and French Doctor, Nym is a cohort of Falstaff 
Padre (Parson) Hughes: Priest
Host/Quickly: Combined part that runs The Garter Inn
Shallow: Old uncle trying to help Slender marry Anne Page
Bardolph: Town Drunk 
Pistol/Fenton: Pistol is on of Falstaff's cohorts, Fenton is the young earnest suitor to Anne Page 
Slender: Suitor to Anne Page but more interested in other things 
Anne Page/Rugby: Anne Page is desired by all the suitors, Rugby is a  boy servant 
Mrs. Ford: pursued by Falstaff with a jealous husband

Mrs. Page: wife of Master Page, mother of Anne Page 

 

Rehearsals for MOBY DICK start FEB 16th, 2026, and the production performs in the Anita Farnsworth Theatre at the Mesa Arts Center MAR 20th-APR 4th with weekday student matinees MAR 24, 25, 26, 27, 31, APR 1, 2, 3rd at 10am. 

 

Seeking 4 Actors of any ethnicity who can present as male: 

  • ISHMAEL- young adventurer, also serves as the first-person narrator

  • STUBB - good-natured, easy-going shipmate who believes in predestination

  • QUEEQUEG - mystical Polynesian harpooner; "Son of a cannibal king, they say"

  • AHAB - brooding and obsessive captain who lost his leg to Moby Dick

     

    All actors sing shanties and play (or pretend to play) an instrument. 

    If you play an actual musical instrument, please note which one(s). Movement a plus.
