Four very different productions are simultaneously in rehearsal, construction and preparation—and all four need resources now.

Before an audience takes its seat, there are directors, designers and actors to pay. Sets to build. Costumes to create. Props to find. Rehearsal spaces, equipment and dozens of other expenses that make live theatre possible. And two of these productions are period pieces, requiring extensive period costuming that adds significantly to the investment needed to bring their worlds authentically to life.

That’s why we’re launching CREATE & BUILD: Four Shows. One Big Push., a special $100,000 campaign to help Southwest Shakespeare Company through this unusually intense period of artistic activity.

Why now?

The rhythm of producing theatre doesn’t always match the rhythm of its revenue.

Many of the expenses for these four productions occur weeks or months before the corresponding ticket income arrives. Additional grant revenue and sponsorship support come later in the season.

But the work is happening right now.
