HONORING
LAURIE & CHUCK GOLDSTEIN
The event will honor Laurie & Chuck Goldstein, Southwest Shakespeare board members, for their unwavering support of Southwest Shakespeare Company and their contributions to Arizona theater.
THE ASSASSINS’ BALL: Black. White. Red. will be a lively soiree preceding the show, featuring great food, music and creative delights including performances of Transfix by atmospheric theater company Vessel Project, directed by ASU professor of Theater Rachel Bowditch. The event will also feature a digital media creation commissioned from Arin “Sparrow” Dineen, currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Digital Media for Performance from ASU, showcasing the advanced technical capabilities of the MIX Center’s Enhanced Immersion Studio (EIS).
Proceeds from the event support Southwest Shakespeare Company’s access, education and engagement programs, helping ensure the transformative power of theatre remains accessible to all and continues to impact students and regional communities.
Following the party, guests will proceed across the street to Mesa Arts Center for the opening night of a groundbreaking new production of William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar directed by Southwest Shakespeare Company Artistic Director Keath Hall. The story is the original--Roman leaders conspire to assassinate Julius Caesar in the name of saving the republic, only to unleash chaos, civil war, and the rise of a new tyranny. This production fuses the classical Roman drama with an homage to Akira Kurosawa and Quentin Tarantino, in an innovative reimagining that captures the political intrigue and betrayal of Shakespeare’s masterpiece in this powerful meditation on political idealism, mob psychology, and how quickly noble intentions can spiral into tragedy.
Individual tickets to the performance and the gala party are $350.
Sponsorships for the event start at $1,000 and are available now. Sponsorships provide the best seats for the show, tickets to the gala, and numerous benefits/acknowledgements. For sponsorship information click HERE
